Otherwise Ryanair (http://www.ryanair.com ) is almost just as expensive as the train nowadays. Actually, the train is not that cheap at all. Convenient though. There is also the bus (http://www.eurolines.com ).

Low cost airlines you can find on http://www.etn.nl/lcostair.htm

    Hi,

it depends on how much of Western Europe you’d like to see! EURail will probably work out as the best value way to travel, the low cost airlines won’t get you out of the major cities – and I assume you’ll then want to see spots inbetween without flying again!

The passes start from $49US for a single country, and finish at $475US for the total go anywhere you want pass. Visit http://www.eurail.com/ for a complete breakdown of what is available..

Being from England myself, I can tell you that things get pretty expensive there – I live on the south coast and a return train ticket to London costs the equivalent of $70US – so the rail passes are good value.

If you are going to the UK then I have read some good money saving articles on the travel blog site – http://roundmyworld.com

Hope this helps, have a great trip!
